RAINED OUT

Tonight was the first meetup for the season of the New York Mets Meetup group! It's a fun crowd to gather with and root on the Mets. I went to one of their parties last year and then participated in a group trip to Cooperstown a month ago (complete with a long bus ride with baseball movies on the DVD player!) Tonight's meetup was at the Grand Saloon on East 23rd Street between Lexington and 3rd. The menu said that in its former life, the establishment was a brothel. If only our former governor was around then...

Anyway I was all excited about tonight's game vs. the Braves and seeing John Maine pitch. But alas, it was rained out. Didn't stop us from socializing as we watched the SNY UltiMet Classic game from last May vs. the Giants. Well we didn't really watch the game, but it was on. Titled "Two Balks and a Walk" it was the one where Armando Benitez did himself in. But with tonight's rainout, Maine will pitch tomorrow instead. Johan Santana is still scheduled to pitch on Sunday when he will be opposed by Tom Glavine. Wow! Santana vs. Glavine. That's a great storyline. But what about Mike Pelfrey? Poor guy gets passed over.

And how amusing is it that Mike Hampton is on the DL for Atlanta... again. He's a sorrier case than Carl Pavano.
