CUBS 7, METS 1

When you’re hot, you’re hot and right now the Chicago Cubs are hot. They’ve won 12 of their last 15 and have moved into first place in the NL Central. Tonight the Mets were their latest victim. John Maine did not pitch badly. It’s just that Carlos Zambrano was better. We only scored one run over seven innings against him. Maine only gave up two runs in his six innings of work, including an Aramis Ramirez homer. But the Cubs blew the game open in the 8th inning against Aaron Heilman and Jorge Sosa. It seems that if any members of the bullpen will give up runs this season, it will be Heilman and Sosa. A Ronny Cedeno 2-RBI single started their rally and a Felix Pie 3-run homer was the death knell. Day game tomorrow at Wrigley – Lilly vs. Figgy!

WP: Carlos Zambrano (3-1)
LP: John Maine (1-2)
